Often times the uninvited guest can turn out to be a great teacher! They are uninvited because they showed up on their own accord. Let’s not make them unwanted. Through awareness all are welcome. We don’t become them we remain ourselves which is One with them. Oh God this play of yours!

The Guest House
This being human is a guest house. Every morning a new arrival.
A joy, a depression, a meanness, some momentary awareness comes as an unexpected visitor.
Welcome and entertain them all! Even if they’re a crowd of sorrows, who violently sweep your house empty of its furniture, still, treat each guest honorably. He may be clearing you out for some new delight.
The dark thought, the shame, the malice, meet them at the door laughing, and invite them in.
Be grateful for whoever comes, because each has been sent as a guide from beyond.
RUMI
Love the idea of the "Unvited Guest". The "Unvited Guest" is a great teacher that allows us to acknowledge without non-reactivity the impermanence of their stay.
Very difficult to not reject and try to fly away from what I don't like, whether an emotion (fear, anger, grief,...) nor an image of myself (identifying with it becomes an ego drama)... I try to welcome, acknowledge in awareness most of the time. Watching those guests with compassion is more difficult; even though I can step back for some time watching it, the belief "this is me" comes back when I release attention, sneaky.... I understand what Snatam said about "offering tea", but to me this is a bit tricky... how to find the right balance between no resistance / welcoming and nourishing / making them stay more than they would in the natural flow. That is not easy to find.
Thank you also for very clear talk on emptiness. One needs to be empty so that Oneness starts to bloom. Letting everything dissolving and unattaching. That was so beautiful and talked directly to my heart 💫
I just read the Rumi poem too. How much this resonates with me right now! Last weekend, I had a physical uninvited guest, who challenged me on my spiritual beliefs. It riled me up and at one point I could see that I was in 'argument' mode. Eventually I could step back and realised there was no point in arguing and it calmed down. I felt so afraid as if he may take away my belief. Maybe I had to let go of my 'beliefs', as if these had become an attachment for which I was sacrificing my peace. And I can see now there was the uninvited guest of fear in my mind too. It's all so wonderfully intertwined the mirror and play of the Universe.
